Privacy
The short version: reading the feed needs no account, and without one the site stores nothing about you on its side. Your feed tuning and read marks live in your browser. An account exists only if you pressed "Sign in with Google" yourself.
What stays in your browser and never leaves it
This is your device's localStorage. The server never sees it, and clearing the site's data erases it for good.
- feed tuning: axis weights, topics, countries, how deep the tail reaches, and the stories you pushed out of the top or raised into it;
- which stories you have already read;
- where you stopped scrolling.
An account only when you ask for one
Sign-in is through Google; we have no password of yours and cannot have one. Once signed in, we keep your Google account identifier, your email address, your display name, the dates you signed up and last signed in — and a copy of that same feed tuning, so it follows you between devices. Nothing else: what you read stays out of the database and is never tied to the account.
The session is one cookie, yoteki_session, good for 90 days. It is httpOnly — scripts on the page cannot read it — and holds nothing but the internal number of your record.
The suggestion form
If you sent a suggestion from the About page, we store the text, the optional contact field exactly as you typed it, the page you sent it from, the language, the time, and your account. Nothing is mailed automatically from it — a person reads it.
Third parties
There are three, all Google, and all of them set their own cookies. There is no consent banner: if those cookies are unacceptable to you, block them in your browser or with an extension — the feed works fully either way.
- Google Analytics — page views and two events: pressing the button that leads to Polymarket, and opening the "What is Polymarket?" note.
- Google Ads — that press, the first answer to the slider question on a storyline page, and opening the "What is Polymarket?" note, as conversions, so we can tell whether advertising pays for itself. Your estimate itself is never sent, only the fact that you answered. No personal data goes to Ads: enhanced conversions are off, and an email or phone number is never sent.
- Google Identity Services — loaded only for the sign-in button.
The site is served through Cloudflare, which sets its own technical cookies and sees the IP addresses of requests. We do not sell data, pass it to ad networks, or build audiences for targeting.
Links to Polymarket
The buttons that lead to Polymarket ("View on Polymarket", "See live odds on Polymarket") go to a third-party site and carry our referral code. From there Polymarket's policy applies, not ours.
Deleting your data, or getting it
Everything held in the browser is yours to delete by clearing the site's data. To have an account and everything attached to it removed, or to ask what is held about you, write to [email protected] or through the form on the About page.
